We run a variety of summer and winter camps in various places to build skills and confidence in students aged 12–22.
WHY CAMPS?
From our co-founder
As I grew up in a sleepy town Bukittinggi, there was no special holiday activity designed for students. In fact, the first camp I attended was only in 2009 when I was already a graduate student. It was Peace Camp in Timor Leste, a newly-established country which barely had infrastructure like running water and electricity. It was held by a Korean non-governmental organization and there I met a lot new international friends from Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the US. With them, I taught peace curriculum to local children who still had to endure conflict, post 1999 referendum. Even without modern infrastructure, it was an experience of a life-time, nothing like ordinary holiday. So, I returned to Timor Leste once more in 2010, that time as a lead project coordinator utilizing my educational background in psychology and conflict resolution. I was convinced that camp experience should also be made available for diverse age groups. Therefore, in 2019 I oversaw another camp in Maldives and designed Bali Camp which attracted two rounds of campers from China, shown in the pictures above. Covid 2019 unfortunately halted our 2020 Bali Camp, but now through Elia Edu Hub I am ready to brew more for all budgets and preferences, to give experiences no classroom can give.
